Jhapa Administration Steps Up Fuel Monitoring Ahead of Festivals

The Jhapa district administration has stepped up regular monitoring of gas and petroleum supply and distribution across the district during the festive season, aiming to prevent artificial shortages as demand for consumer goods may increase. Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Pokharel has urged the agencies concerned to keep the supply system efficient and well-organised, while Nepal Oil Corporation’s Charali chief, Umesh Kumar Pokharel, says petroleum products are currently available in the district without a shortage.

Monitoring supply and distribution

The administration’s focus is on the movement and distribution of essential fuels as households prepare for the festivals. Regular monitoring is intended to help officials track whether products are reaching consumers through the supply system and to guard against an artificial shortage of gas or petroleum products.

Chief District Officer Shrawan Kumar Pokharel has called on the agencies involved to maintain an efficient, well-organised supply system. His appeal comes as demand for consumer goods can rise during the festive period, making coordination among the responsible agencies important to keeping supplies moving.

The administration has not reported an existing district-wide fuel shortage in the information available. Its monitoring effort is preventive, with the stated aim of reducing the risk of artificial scarcity during a period when demand may increase.

Oil corporation reports adequate petroleum supply

Umesh Kumar Pokharel, chief of the Nepal Oil Corporation’s Charali office, said there is no shortage of petroleum products in Jhapa. The statement provides reassurance about current availability as the district administration monitors supply and distribution.

The corporation’s assessment and the administration’s monitoring address different parts of the same concern: whether fuel is available and whether it is being distributed in an orderly way. While the oil corporation chief has said petroleum products are not short in the district, officials are continuing to watch the system to help prevent disruption during the festive season.

Focus on preventing artificial shortages

The administration’s message is directed at the agencies responsible for supply and distribution, asking them to keep the process efficient as festival-related demand develops. Maintaining an organised system is central to the effort to ensure that concerns about possible shortages do not become a barrier to access for consumers.

For residents, the key update from officials is that petroleum products are currently reported to be available in Jhapa, while monitoring of fuel and gas distribution is continuing. The administration has framed the steps as preparation for a possible rise in demand, rather than as a response to a confirmed shortage. Its stated priority is to keep supply arrangements functioning and prevent artificial shortages during the festivals.
