Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has criticized world powers and Nepal's political leadership for failing to take global climate change and the environmental crisis seriously. He said leaders responsible for policymaking have ignored repeated scientific warnings about the risks.
Yadav made the remarks on Saturday in Kathmandu while addressing the 36th annual general assembly of the Nepal Diabetes Society. He also said the government and political parties have not treated Chure conservation as a serious issue.
Yadav raises concerns over climate and the environment
Yadav said both international powers and Nepal's political leadership had not responded adequately to climate change and the broader environmental crisis. He pointed to repeated warnings from scientists that, he said, policymakers have overlooked.
Call for greater attention to Chure conservation
Yadav also criticized the government and political parties for not taking Chure conservation seriously, raising the issue alongside his concerns about climate change and environmental protection.
