Chiribabu Maharjan Leads Nepali Congress Open Central Member Count

Chiribabu Maharjan is leading the ongoing vote count for the open central member position at the Nepali Congress 15th General Convention, with 1,935 votes in the latest results. Nishkal Rai is in second place with 1,858 votes, followed by Prof. Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel with 1,686. Indra Bahadur Baniya has received 1,646 votes, while Jit Narayan Shrestha has 1,000, according to the figures reported so far.

Latest vote count

Maharjan holds a 77-vote lead over Rai in the latest tally. Pokharel is 172 votes behind Rai and 249 votes behind Maharjan. The figures place Baniya fourth among the five candidates named in the latest results, 40 votes behind Pokharel. Shrestha is fifth in this reported group, with 646 fewer votes than Baniya.

The current order is therefore Maharjan, Rai, Pokharel, Baniya and Shrestha. The figures show the candidates’ positions at the time of the latest update; the count is still ongoing. They do not establish a final result or confirm the outcome of the contest.

| Candidate | Votes | Position in latest figures | |---|---:|---:| | Chiribabu Maharjan | 1,935 | First | | Nishkal Rai | 1,858 | Second | | Prof. Dr. Govinda Raj Pokharel | 1,686 | Third | | Indra Bahadur Baniya | 1,646 | Fourth | | Jit Narayan Shrestha | 1,000 | Fifth |

Count remains underway

The vote count concerns the open central member position under the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention. Maharjan’s lead is narrow in relation to the totals recorded for the leading candidates: Rai is 77 votes behind him, while Pokharel is 249 votes back. Baniya’s tally is also close to Pokharel’s, with a gap of 40 votes between them.

Because counting is ongoing, the reported standings remain subject to change as further votes are counted and results are updated. The latest figures provide a snapshot of the competition rather than a final declaration. No additional vote totals or final outcome are included in the results reported so far.

The figures highlight a close contest among the leading candidates, particularly between Maharjan and Rai. However, the available tally alone does not indicate how many votes remain to be counted or when the count will conclude. The result will depend on the completed count and any subsequent official update from the convention process.
