Women Entrepreneurs Federation Nepal to Expand ‘Ma Udhyami’ Trademark Campaign Nationwide

The Women Entrepreneurs Federation Nepal (Mahila Udhyami Mahasangh Nepal) has announced plans to expand its ‘Ma Udhyami’ trademark campaign nationwide, aiming to give products made by women entrepreneurs a stronger national identity and wider access to markets. Federation chairperson Darshana Shrestha shared the plan during a press conference in Lalitpur, where she said the campaign would identify, promote and expand the reach of women-produced goods across the country.

A nationwide identity for women-led products

The campaign is intended to bring products made by women entrepreneurs under a shared identity that can help distinguish and promote them. The federation’s stated aim is to make those goods more recognisable nationally while supporting their reach into wider markets. By taking the initiative beyond a limited area, the organisation intends to connect the campaign with women entrepreneurs across Nepal.

The announcement places product identity and market access at the centre of the effort. For producers, the campaign is designed to offer a way to identify their goods as products made by women entrepreneurs. For consumers and markets, the national campaign is intended to make those products easier to recognise and promote. The federation has described the initiative as a means of identifying and promoting goods produced by women entrepreneurs, rather than as a campaign limited to a single product or location.

Identifying and promoting products

Shrestha’s announcement set out a broad purpose for the campaign: identify women entrepreneurs’ products, promote them and expand their market reach. The nationwide expansion is therefore a key part of the plan. The federation aims to extend the initiative across the country so that products made by women entrepreneurs in different places can be included in a shared effort to build recognition.

The ‘Ma Udhyami’ name is the trademark at the heart of the campaign. The federation says the trademark is intended to provide national identity to the products and help widen their access to markets. In that sense, the initiative combines recognition with promotion: it is meant both to identify the products and to support their visibility beyond their existing reach. The announcement did not specify a timetable for the nationwide expansion or outline the process through which individual products will be included.

Wider market access as the goal

The federation’s plan responds to the stated need to give women entrepreneurs’ products a national profile and broader market access. Its announcement makes clear that the campaign is intended to operate across Nepal, with the aim of reaching women entrepreneurs and the goods they produce around the country. The expansion would also give the federation a platform to promote those products under the ‘Ma Udhyami’ identity.

The press conference in Lalitpur provided the occasion for Shrestha to communicate the federation’s plans. The announcement did not provide further details about specific markets, product categories, eligibility requirements or the practical steps for joining the campaign. Its central commitment, however, was clear: the federation intends to expand the trademark initiative nationwide to identify, promote and help broaden the reach of products made by women entrepreneurs.

The campaign’s progress will depend on how the nationwide expansion is carried out and how women entrepreneurs are brought into it. For now, the federation has presented ‘Ma Udhyami’ as a national identity and promotion effort for women-produced goods, with wider market access as one of its principal aims. The plan signals an effort to make women entrepreneurs’ products more visible across Nepal through a coordinated trademark campaign.
