CPN (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel questioned the government’s working style while addressing the opening session of the Nepali Congress’ 15th General Convention at Khulamanch in Kathmandu on Sunday. He said the government was not engaging in dialogue with political parties, Parliament or citizens and warned that it appeared to be moving toward an arbitrary path.
Pokharel also asked why the government was not bringing political parties together to discuss national issues, recalling that Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane had been trying to do so.
Pokharel questions government’s approach
Addressing the convention’s opening session, Pokharel questioned whether the government was following a democratic path. He criticised what he described as a lack of dialogue with political parties, Parliament and the public.
He warned that the government’s approach appeared to be leading toward arbitrariness.
Calls for dialogue on national issues
Pokharel referred to Lamichhane’s efforts to bring political parties together on national issues and asked why the government was not taking a similar approach.
The remarks were made during the opening session of the Nepali Congress’ 15th General Convention in Kathmandu.
