Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadka Raj Paudel has registered two bills in the House of Representatives to split the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority into separate regulatory and service-providing bodies.
The proposed legislation comprises the Nepal Air Service Authority Bill, 2083 and the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2083. The government says the division is intended to make aviation services safe, high-quality, reliable and accessible.
Bills propose separate aviation bodies
The bills would divide the authority’s regulatory and service-providing functions. If Parliament passes them, the legislation would open the way for the authority to be split.
The government has presented the change as a measure to improve the quality and reliability of aviation services, as well as their safety and accessibility.
