Two Arrested in Kathmandu for Selling Expired Food With Fake Labels

Two men have been arrested in Kathmandu on suspicion of selling and distributing expired and substandard food products with fake stickers and brand labels showing new dates, police said.

The suspects were identified as 40-year-old Bijendra Sah, originally from Prasauni-1 in Bara and currently living in Tinathana, Chandragiri-15, Kathmandu, and 49-year-old Akhilesh Prasad Kalwar of Bahuarwa Bhatha, Bindabasini-2, Parsa.

Joint operation in Chandragiri

The arrests were made by the District Police Range Kathmandu in coordination with the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control. The case involves a grocery store in Chandragiri.

The men are accused of placing fake stickers and brand labels bearing new dates on expired food products before selling or distributing them.
