Sheep and goats from Himalayan districts have begun arriving in Pokhara ahead of Dashain, with the animals being offered for sale at Simpani Jaubari.
Trader Min Prasad Bohara brought the first batch this year from Dolpa. He brought 100 sheep and goats, which are priced between Rs 21,000 and Rs 40,000 each.
Animals brought to Pokhara on foot
Animals sold in Pokhara ahead of Dashain are mainly brought from Mustang and Dolpa. This year, road blockages meant Bohara’s animals had to be walked to the city.
The arrival marks the start of seasonal livestock sales in Pokhara ahead of the festival.
