Scrub typhus has been detected in 74 districts across Nepal, with 10,210 people infected, according to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD).
The Ministry of Health and Population has intensified surveillance, testing and treatment efforts in response. It is also working to strengthen health workers’ capacity and carry out risk communication activities.
Sankhuwasabha reports 560 cases
Sankhuwasabha district has recorded 560 scrub typhus cases since July, according to the available district figures.
The EDCD’s nationwide count indicates that the disease has been detected across most of Nepal’s districts.
