The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has fined Salt Trading Corporation Rs 300,000 for breaching Section 38(E) of the Consumer Protection Act, 2075, citing unfair and fraudulent business practices.
The action followed two days of monitoring prompted by complaints that the corporation had not provided clear records of its sugar purchases, sales and stock. The department acted on the instruction of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies under its zero-tolerance policy.

The complaints concerned the corporation’s records of sugar transactions and inventory. The department said the case involved a breach of the consumer protection law and imposed the Rs 300,000 fine.
Salt Trading Corporation is under the proprietorship of Prajwalman Pradhan.
