Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal says the government is working to resettle people affected by floods in Rasuwa in safe locations before Dashain. He also said tenders for rebuilding flood-damaged structures will be called before the festival.
Lamsal made the remarks at a parliamentary special committee meeting on climate change impacts in the Himalayas, climate justice and the Bhote Koshi–Trishuli disaster. The meeting was held at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu.
Rebuilding plans and disaster resilience
The minister said work is underway to rehabilitate flood victims and rebuild damaged infrastructure. He said the government would also amend existing laws to make infrastructure development more resilient to natural disasters.
The planned legal changes are part of efforts to reduce the risks posed by future disasters to infrastructure projects.
