Work to reopen the Beni–Jomsom road has been halted for three days because structures and an electricity tower in front of the Rahu Ghat hydropower project are blocking Road Department machinery, officials said.
Road Department Director General Dr. Bijay Jaisi said the obstruction at Rahu Ghat continues to affect efforts to reopen the road. The department has cleared landslides along the Ghaasa–Korala section, which is now open to two-way traffic.
Floods and landslides damaged the road
The Maldhunga–Beni–Jomsom–Korala road was damaged at several sections by floods and landslides following heavy rain last Sunday. Road Department teams have been working to clear the affected route, but the obstruction near the Rahu Ghat hydropower project has stalled work on the Beni–Jomsom section.
Officials estimate that the Beni–Jomsom road could take about seven more days to reopen.
