Private medical and dental college operators in Kathmandu have called on the government to immediately revise fees for MBBS and BDS programmes, saying the fee structure has not been reviewed for a long time.
The colleges, represented by their umbrella organisation, said rising operating costs were making it difficult to maintain the quality of medical education, add modern equipment, upgrade infrastructure and improve hospital services.
Colleges call for fee and policy review
The operators argued that a review of the fee structure and government policy is needed to address the challenges facing medical and dental education institutions.
They also said Nepal has significant potential to develop as a regional hub for medical education, and called for policies that support that ambition.
