President Ram Chandra Paudel has prorogued the ongoing session of both houses of the Federal Parliament, effective from midnight on October 2. The decision was made on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers and in accordance with the Constitution of Nepal.
Krishna Bahadur Shahi, spokesperson for the Office of the President, said the session began on May 11. During the session, Parliament passed the government’s policy and budget, six ordinance replacement bills, and the Sahid Dasharath Chand Health Sciences University Bill.
Bills passed and pending
More than ten other bills remain under review in parliamentary committees. The session’s prorogation brings the current sitting of both houses to a close while those bills are still under committee consideration.
