Pokhara Removes 26 Structures from Firkekhola’s Natural Flow Area

Pokhara Metropolitan City has removed 26 structures from the natural flow area of Firkekhola, a stream that runs through the middle of the market area, Mayor Dhanraj Acharya said.

The removals are part of a campaign that began on Ashoj 15. So far, the municipality has cleared 12 permanent and 14 temporary structures.

Owners Given Final Chance to Clear Structures

Before beginning demolition, the municipality gave owners a final opportunity to remove their structures themselves. It then demolished those that remained standing.

Clearance to Continue Toward Gai Ghat

The city plans to continue removing structures from the stream’s natural flow area up to Gai Ghat. After that, it plans to move ahead with the Firkekhola corridor project.
