Passenger traffic on the Pokhara-Jomsom air route has surged after flooding blocked the road connecting Mustang with Beni in Myagdi, shifting more travelers to air transport.
Jomsom Airport chief Bishwanath Sharma said the limited number of flights has made it difficult to accommodate the increased passenger demand. Twin Otter aircraft operated by Tara Air are serving the route.
Limited flights face higher demand
The road blockade has increased pressure on the Pokhara-Jomsom air service, but the number of available flights is not enough to easily meet the rise in passenger traffic, Sharma said.
The route links Pokhara with Jomsom, the administrative center of Mustang. Travelers are relying on the flights while the road connection to Beni remains blocked by flooding.
