Prime Minister Balendra (Balen) Shah has said the government aims to resolve the landless squatters issue within 1,000 days, describing the target as a key performance indicator (KPI) of his administration.
In a social media post on Monday evening, Shah said 5,737 families of landless Dalits, landless squatters and unorganised settlers have so far received land ownership certificates.
Government sets 1,000-day target
Shah said the issue had remained limited to political slogans for seven decades. He pledged that it would be permanently resolved within 1,000 days, in line with the election commitment of the Rastriya Swatantra Party-led government.
The government will gradually declare districts free of the squatters problem, according to reports.
