The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives has formed a nine-member study subcommittee to examine alleged irregularities in the procurement of uniforms for election police. The panel, led by Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker Manish Jha, has been given two months to complete its work.
The subcommittee was formed at a committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday. Nepal Police purchased the uniforms for election police last Magh, and lawmakers have raised questions about the procurement.

Along with coordinator Jha, the panel includes lawmakers Ain Mahar, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, Aryan Rai, Khagendra Sunar, Khushbu Oli, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Ganesh Dhimal and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi.
Lawmaker Khagendra Sunar has been raising concerns about alleged irregularities in the purchase. The subcommittee is expected to examine the matter within the two-month deadline set by the Public Accounts Committee.
Procurement concerns
The procurement concerns relate to uniforms bought by Nepal Police for election police last Magh. The committee has formed the study panel to look into the allegations and report within its assigned timeframe.
