The Nepali Congress has proposed raising the annual levy for its provincial committees to 500,000 rupees as it seeks to strengthen the party’s finances and improve how it collects funds.
Treasurer Umesh Shrestha presented the proposal in a financial report at the closed session of the party’s 15th General Convention. The report said the party is struggling to meet even its routine annual expenses.
Proposal to organise and digitalise levy collection
The proposal calls for regular levy collection to be organised and digitalised. It also recommends transparently collecting contributions from industrialists, businesses, professionals and well-wishers abroad.
The proposed increase would set the provincial committees’ annual levy at 500,000 rupees. The report frames improved collection and transparency as measures to address the party’s weak financial position.
