The Nepali Congress has announced plans to establish a Rs 100 million fund to support the families of martyrs, conflict victims and people injured during the party’s movements. The fund is intended for those whose education, livelihoods or opportunities were affected.
The announcement was made in a political proposal presented by party president Gagan Kumar Thapa at the Nepali Congress’s 15th general convention in Kathmandu. The party described the fund as an expression of its familial responsibility toward its fighters.
Who the fund is intended to support
The proposed fund will support families and individuals affected by the party’s movements, including:
- Families of martyrs
- Conflict victims
- People injured during the movements
- Those who lost education, livelihoods or opportunities as a result
