The Nepali Congress has recorded 969,842 active members, spokesperson Devraj Chalise announced at a press conference on Monday. The figure is about 100,000 higher than the 870,000 active members recorded at the party’s 14th general convention.
Chalise said the increase followed a party plan to enroll people from the Gen Z age group and bring them into the central committee. The party has also expanded its central committee to 297 members during its ongoing 15th general convention.
Nepali Congress membership growth
The membership total reflects an increase of roughly 11 percent from the number reported at the 14th general convention. The party’s push to enroll Gen Z members was among the factors behind the rise, according to Chalise.
Central committee expanded to 297 members
Alongside the membership increase, the Nepali Congress has expanded its central committee to 297 members through the ongoing 15th general convention.
