Voting began Friday morning at the National Assembly Hall in Kathmandu to elect a new central committee of the Nepali Congress during its 15th General Convention. Delegates started lining up early to cast their ballots.

Different accounts of the first vote
Reports differed on who cast the first ballot. Accounts named Shobha Chandra Baral, an 81-year-old delegate from Kaski-2; Shobhakant Baral, an 81-year-old senior delegate from Gandaki Province; Rajendra Burlakoti, a 67-year-old senior voter from Bagmati Province; and Sudhir Shivakoti, a 77-year-old delegate from Jhapa.
