Nepal’s Under-19 women’s cricket team will tour China and India as part of its preparation for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) said in a statement on Friday. The team’s first scheduled assignment is the Belt and Road U-19 Girls T20 tournament in China from November 3 to 8, where Nepal will meet the hosts, Hong Kong and Thailand. CAN said the squad will also play various sides during a subsequent tour of India, although it did not provide dates or name those opponents.

Six matches scheduled in China

Nepal is set to play six matches during the China tournament, facing Thailand twice, China twice and Hong Kong China twice across six consecutive days. The schedule begins with a match against Thailand on November 3, followed by games against China on November 4 and Hong Kong China on November 5.

The team will then face Thailand again on November 6, China on November 7 and Hong Kong China on November 8. The sequence gives Nepal a match on each day of the tournament, with the opponents repeating in the same order during the final three days. CAN’s announcement identifies the teams and dates but does not specify match venues or start times.

  • November 3: Nepal vs Thailand
  • November 4: Nepal vs China
  • November 5: Nepal vs Hong Kong China
  • November 6: Nepal vs Thailand
  • November 7: Nepal vs China
  • November 8: Nepal vs Hong Kong China

India tour also part of preparation

After the China assignment, Nepal will travel to India for further matches against various sides, according to CAN. The association did not identify the teams Nepal will play, give a start date for the India tour or outline how many matches are planned there. No additional details about the tour schedule were included in the statement.

The two-country programme is intended to help Nepal prepare for the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The China tournament provides a defined run of six fixtures against three teams, while the India tour is described as another opportunity for the squad to play before the global competition. The statement did not provide further information about the World Cup schedule or Nepal’s preparations beyond the announced tours.

Tournament opponents and schedule

Nepal’s China opponents will be the host team, Hong Kong and Thailand. The schedule includes repeat fixtures against each of the three opponents: Thailand on November 3 and 6, China on November 4 and 7, and Hong Kong China on November 5 and 8. The tournament is named the Belt and Road U-19 Girls T20 tournament and runs from November 3 through November 8.

For Nepal, the China leg is the most clearly detailed part of the announced preparation plan. It provides a fixed sequence of opposition and dates ahead of the India matches, whose details remain to be announced. CAN’s statement did not say whether the India games will be played against club, academy or representative teams, and no venues or match formats for those fixtures were provided.

The announcement confirms that Nepal’s U-19 women will have international match experience in both China and India before the World Cup. Further information on the India tour and the team’s wider World Cup preparations was not included in the statement.
