The Supreme Court of Nepal has ordered Nepal Police's Cyber Bureau to produce the original investigation file and detention-extension documents concerning medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai.
A joint bench of Justices Dr. Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal issued the order on Monday during a hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed on Prasai's behalf by his wife, Uma Prasai. The petition names the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police Headquarters among the respondents.
Court seeks original investigation records
The court directed the Cyber Bureau to submit the original case file related to the investigation of Prasai under the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063. It also ordered the production of documents concerning extensions of his detention.
The order was issued as part of the court's consideration of the habeas corpus petition. It calls for the original records to be placed before the court.
