Nepal’s proposal on climate-related disasters was passed by a two-thirds majority at the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania. Speaker Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal presented the proposal on behalf of Nepal.
The proposal calls for a legal framework to ensure that IPU member states can access climate and weather early-warning systems across borders. It also urges the IPU’s common declaration to press parliamentarians to hold their governments to their climate commitments.
