Nepal Rastra Bank has directed banks and financial institutions to make new Rs 100 notes available through automated teller machines (ATMs) for Dashain and other festivals. Some banks have already started dispensing the notes through their ATMs following the directive.
NRB spokesperson Guru Prasad Paudel said the notes should be distributed with the festivals in mind, but without unnecessary publicity. He cited the heavy loss of life and property caused by the Bhote Koshi flood.
