The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has sent the Education (Eleventh Amendment) Regulations, 2083 to the Ministry of Finance for approval. The proposed rules would provide interest subsidies to teachers purchasing vehicles, according to reports from Kathmandu.
Under the proposal, secondary-level first-class teachers could purchase vehicles worth up to Rs 5 million, while the limit for second-class teachers would be Rs 4 million. The proposed provision also covers secondary third-class, lower-secondary and primary-level teachers.
Proposal awaits Finance Ministry approval
The regulations have been forwarded to the Ministry of Finance for approval. The interest subsidy arrangement is therefore a proposal and has not been confirmed as an approved benefit.
Proposed vehicle limits for teachers
- Secondary-level first-class teachers: Vehicles worth up to Rs 5 million
