The government is preparing an integrated programme to address disability prevention and rehabilitation, from reducing risks and identifying disabilities early to supporting treatment, education, employment and social inclusion.
The Ministry of Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minorities and Social Security has advanced the Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Partnership Programme Operation Procedure, 2083. The programme is intended to bring together efforts by all three tiers of government.
Programme to cover prevention, rehabilitation and employment
The proposed programme will include support for people with disabilities across several areas:
- Disability risk reduction and early identification
- Treatment and rehabilitation
- Education and skill development
- Employment and social inclusion
The approach is intended to connect prevention and rehabilitation with opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in education, work and society.
Implementation through the ministry
Disability prevention and rehabilitation activities will be carried out in coordination among federal, provincial and local governments. The programme is to be implemented through the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens.
