Flooding in the Narayani River has damaged 1,150 metres of embankment along the riverbank on the Chitwan side, according to the Irrigation and Water Resources Project Bharatpur.

The affected sections lie along a 35-kilometre stretch running west from the Narayani Bridge to Golaghat in Bharatpur Metropolitan City. Embankments have been built along 20 kilometres of that stretch.

Damage reported in several areas

Engineer Sagar Poudel, information officer at the project, said the damage includes 600 metres in the Siddhiganesh forest area, 300 metres in the Majhuwa forest area and 100 metres in the Hirapur area.

Other affected locations

Sections of the embankment were also damaged in Gaureshwar, Ganjipur and Katero. The project did not provide a separate length for the damage in those areas.
