The government will provide policy and procedural facilitation to protect the originality, identity and intellectual property of Nepali products and help establish Nepali brands in global markets, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Vikram Timilsina said on Thursday.
Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu, Timilsina said Nepal has significant potential that needs to be taken to international markets through branding. He also described a scientific study of the current state of Nepali products and brands as important.
Nepali Brand Architecture 2083 report launched
The minister made the remarks at the launch of the Nepali Brand Architecture 2083 report, organised by Corporate Nepal.
The report focuses on the current state of Nepali products and brands, according to the programme’s summary. Timilsina said that understanding this landscape through scientific study was important to efforts to protect Nepali products and build their presence abroad.
Government support for Nepali products
Timilsina said government facilitation would focus on:
- Protecting the originality and identity of Nepali products
- Safeguarding their intellectual property
- Supporting the establishment of Nepali brands in the global market
He said branding could help take Nepal’s potential to international markets.
