Communications and Information Minister Dr. Vikram Timilsina has called for a strong and empowered regulatory mechanism to make the communication and journalism sector more organised, responsible, professional and effective.
He made the remarks on Monday during a discussion at the Ministry of Communications and Information in Kathmandu with communication officials from Bagmati, Gandaki and Madhesh provinces. Timilsina stressed that the sector should be regulated through law.

The meeting was attended by Bagmati Province Communication Registrar Rewati Prasad Sapkota, Gandaki Province Press Registrar Bimala Bhandari and Madhesh Province Mass Communication Authority Chair Jitendra Kumar Khadga.
Timilsina said a strong regulatory structure was needed to support an organised and professional communication and journalism sector.
