Matatirtha-Syuchatar Transmission Line Upgrade May Disrupt Kathmandu Power

Electricity supply in parts of the Kathmandu Valley may be disrupted on Saturday, Ashoj 24, and Sunday, Ashoj 25, while the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) upgrades the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132 kV transmission line.

The work includes removing old wires and conductors and installing higher-capacity replacements. The upgrade is intended to strengthen the line and make electricity supply in the valley more reliable, higher quality and sustainable.

Areas that may be affected

The NEA said supply could be interrupted in Matatirtha, Syuchatar and other areas connected to the relevant substations during the work. The authority did not specify how long any disruption in individual areas would last.

The line upgrade is part of efforts to increase transmission capacity and improve the reliability of electricity supply in the Kathmandu Valley.
