Nepali Congress leader Mahalakshmi Upadhyay ‘Dina’ has announced her candidacy for the post of General Secretary, saying her bid is a natural claim based on her experience and service within the party organisation.
Upadhyay previously served as the party’s Joint General Secretary. She pointed to that role and her long experience in the organisation as the basis for seeking the senior post.
Candidacy announced during 15th General Convention
Her announcement comes as the Nepali Congress’s 15th General Convention began on Sunday in Kathmandu. Closed sessions and election programmes are scheduled to start during the convention.
The convention will provide the setting for party members to take part in the scheduled election process, including the contest for General Secretary.
