Electricity leakage in Madhesh Province has been declining steadily in recent years, according to the Nepal Electricity Authority’s Madhesh Provincial Office. The office said it collected more than Rs 200 million in outstanding electricity dues during the first two months of the current fiscal year, 2083/84.
Measures to control electricity leakage
The provincial office attributed the decline to a range of measures, including its leakage control campaign and efforts to curb electricity hooking. It also cited improved customer billing, the replacement of long-defunct meters and more effective meter reading.
These efforts have contributed to a steady reduction in electricity leakage across the province in recent years, the office said.
More than Rs 200 million in dues collected
The office reported that it recovered over Rs 200 million in outstanding dues in the first two months of fiscal year 2083/84. The collection was part of its efforts to improve billing and recover unpaid electricity charges.
