Most heritage conservation and reconstruction work in Lalitpur has been completed, with work at the remaining sites about 95 percent finished, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan said on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Speaking at a program organized by Jyapu Samaj in Lalitpur, Maharjan said the city would now focus on preserving and promoting intangible heritage.

Maharjan’s remarks signal a shift in the city’s heritage efforts from restoring physical sites to giving greater attention to intangible heritage. He said the remaining reconstruction work was nearing completion.
