Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Birajbhakta Shrestha said the Kulekhani hydropower dam in Makwanpur is currently safe and its condition is normal after inspecting the site on Saturday.
The minister visited the dam to assess the situation after heavy rainfall from 8 to 12 Ashoj pushed the reservoir level past its danger mark. He said the dam poses no risk for now.
Officials brief minister on dam condition
Nepal Electricity Authority Executive Director Dirghayukumar Shrestha and authority staff briefed the minister during the inspection. They provided information on the dam’s current condition.
Shrestha said the assessment showed that the dam remains safe at present.
