The District Disaster Management Committee in Khotang has directed local levels and concerned offices to repair roads across the district and make them passable for vehicles before Dashain.
The decision is intended to ease travel during the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals. The committee, coordinated by Chief District Officer Mahesh Kumar Gurung, has asked authorities to prioritise road maintenance because rainfall often blocks rural roads.
Roads to be made operational
The committee has called for all roads in the district, except the Mid-Hill Highway, to be brought into operation before the festival period. Local levels and concerned offices have been instructed to carry out the necessary repairs.
