District Police Range Kathmandu has deployed 3,506 police personnel across the district to maintain security during Dashain, Tihar and Chhath. The festival security plan was announced at a press conference on Friday and will remain in effect until Kartik 30.
Police spokesperson SP Dan Bahadur Thapa presented the plan, which aims to control theft, pickpocketing, robbery, gambling, fraud and abduction. Police have set a target of reaching incident scenes within five to ten minutes.
Surveillance and response measures
The security operation will use CCTV cameras, drones and dogs for surveillance. An additional reserve team of 190 personnel can be mobilized if needed.
The plan focuses on preventing crime and enabling a rapid police response throughout the festival period.
