The Karnali Province government has declared a public holiday across Jumla district for the day of the annual linggo-raising ceremony at the Chandannath and Bhairavnath temples.
Laxmikumar Bik, provincial secretary at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, said the holiday is granted because the ritual is held each year on Asoj Krishna Trayodashi.
Annual ceremony at two temples
The linggo-raising ceremony takes place at the Chandannath and Bhairavnath temples, two well-known religious sites in Jumla. The public holiday applies across the district on the day of the ritual.
