LPG industries are preparing to operate joint sales counters at around 15 to 20 major locations across Kathmandu Valley during the Dashain festive season. The arrangement will allow consumers to exchange an empty cylinder of one brand for a filled cylinder of another brand without paying an additional fee.
Shiv Prasad Ghimire, former president of the Nepal LPG Industry Association, said the companies had reached an internal agreement to run the counters.
Cross-brand LPG cylinder exchange during Dashain
Under the plan, consumers will not need to find a filled cylinder from the same brand as their empty one. The joint counters are intended to make it easier to obtain cooking gas during the festive period.
The arrangement aims to prevent shortages for consumers simply because they own a cylinder of a particular brand. The counters are expected to operate at around 15 to 20 major locations in Kathmandu Valley.
