The Independent Power Producers’ Association, Nepal (IPPAN) has welcomed the Electricity Regulatory Commission’s National Electricity Transmission Grid Transmission Charge (Wheeling Charge) Directive 2083, while calling for a review of its rates.
At a meeting of its 207th executive committee on Tuesday, IPPAN concluded that the wheeling charge of 57 paisa per kilowatt, along with the rates for medium- and long-term open access, is too expensive. The association also questioned the method used to set the charges.
IPPAN calls for review of wheeling charge
IPPAN has asked the commission to review the rates. The directive was published on 15 Ashoj 2083.
The association welcomed the provision allowing open access to the national transmission grid, describing it as a long-standing demand of the private sector. However, it said the cost of using the grid and the approach used to calculate the charges need reconsideration.
