India on Thursday rejected Elon Musk’s allegation that unnamed “oligarchs” were blocking Starlink’s launch in the country, saying its satellite internet approval process is fair and non-discriminatory.
Musk, the SpaceX chief executive, wrote on X that certain oligarchs were protecting their “monopolistic chokehold” on the Indian people. He did not name anyone in the post.

Separately, Musk said Starlink’s satellite beams are turned off over India. He also denied claims that the service had been used by militants.
The dispute centers on Starlink’s entry into India and the country’s approval process for satellite internet services. India maintains that the process does not discriminate against applicants.
