A total of 2,548 adolescent girls in Tanahun district received the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine as part of a campaign to protect against cervical cancer, according to the Provincial Public Health Office.
Of those vaccinated, 2,542 were Class 6 students attending schools across the district’s ten local levels. The other six were 10-year-old girls who are out of school. The HPV vaccination campaign set up centres at 254 schools.
Vaccinations across Tanahun
Byas Municipality recorded the highest number among the local units listed, with 735 girls vaccinated. The reported totals also included:
- Shuklagandaki Municipality: 469 girls
- Bhanu Municipality: 216 girls
- Bandipur Rural Municipality: 186 girls
- Rishing Rural Municipality: 112 girls
Other girls were vaccinated in the district’s remaining local units.
HPV vaccination in Gorkha
Separately, 1,764 adolescent girls received the HPV vaccine in Gorkha district under the same vaccination campaign.
