Haiti has postponed its presidential and legislative elections indefinitely, suspending the campaign period and leaving voters without a new date for the polls. The Provisional Electoral Council announced on Tuesday that a revised schedule would be published “as soon as possible.”
The first round had been scheduled for December 13, with a second round planned for February 21, 2027. A council member confirmed that the December 13 date no longer stands.

Security and political challenges
Haiti has faced years of gang violence, political instability and a wider security crisis. The elections had been scheduled for the end of this year.
