Heavy rain accompanied by hail swept across Kathmandu Valley and other parts of Nepal on Tuesday afternoon, briefly disrupting daily life. Water accumulated on main roads and in low-lying areas of the Valley, making travel difficult for motorists and pedestrians.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division reported thunder, lightning and hailstones at around 3:15 pm in Kathmandu, Kavre, Sindhupalchok and Dolakha. Similar conditions were reported in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Waterlogging disrupts travel
Several road sections in the Valley were affected by accumulated water, while drains overflowed in some areas. The conditions made vehicle movement and pedestrian travel difficult.
Unsettled weather expected until Saturday
The Meteorological Forecasting Division has warned that weather conditions are likely to remain unsettled until Saturday.
