Government to Send Gen Z Protest Case Report to Home Ministry

The government has decided to send a report on the possibility of withdrawing criminal cases filed against Gen Z protesters to the Ministry of Home Affairs for necessary implementation.

A Cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Monday approved forwarding the report prepared by a committee led by former judge Baburam Regmi. The committee was formed to study whether the cases could be withdrawn and has completed its work and submitted its report.

The report concerns the potential withdrawal of criminal cases against protesters. The government has sent it to the Home Ministry for the next steps, but the decision to forward the report does not itself confirm that the cases will be withdrawn.

The committee’s recommendation will be considered through the implementation process at the ministry.
