Ganesh Parajuli has been elected unopposed as chair of the Parliamentary Special Committee on Climate Change in the Himalayas and the Bhote Koshi-Trishuli Disaster. The Rastriya Swatantra Party lawmaker was the only candidate to file a nomination for the post.
The committee selected Parajuli at its first meeting on Wednesday, following the chair election announced by Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal.
Committee formed after Bhote Koshi flood
The 15-member special committee was formed after the Bhote Koshi flood. Speaker Aryal had announced that the election for its chair would be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 30.
As the sole nominee, Parajuli was elected without a contest.
