Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa presented an economic roadmap during the closed session of the party’s 15th General Convention, according to reports from Kathmandu. The plan sets out three pillars: a private-sector-friendly economy, broad-based economic growth and social justice.
The roadmap identifies the private sector as the main driver of prosperity. It calls for policy stability, healthy competition and an investment-friendly environment, while stating that the government will not exercise control over the private sector.
Three pillars of the economic roadmap
- A private-sector-friendly economy: Position businesses and investors as central to prosperity, supported by stable policies and healthy competition.
- Broad economic growth: Pursue growth with a wide reach.
- Social justice: Make social justice a core part of the economic approach.
