Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chair Anjan Shrestha has called for the private sector to be included in the formulation and implementation of climate policies in Nepal.
Speaking at a meeting of the Federal Parliament’s Parliamentary Special Committee at Singha Durbar in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Shrestha said climate change is adversely affecting the private sector, industries, businesses and the overall economy.
Climate change and Nepal’s development challenges
Shrestha discussed Nepal’s current situation and development challenges, along with the impacts of climate change in the Himalayan region and the issue of climate justice.
He stressed that businesses and industry should have a role in shaping climate policies and carrying them out, as climate change affects the private sector and the wider economy.
