Both Houses of Nepal’s Federal Parliament met in Kathmandu, with the House of Representatives sitting at Singha Durbar. Ministers tabled bills covering national defence, women and children, social security, health and reproductive rights, while also proposing that several bills be sent to committees for consideration.
Bills tabled in the House of Representatives
Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam tabled the National Defence University Bill, 2083, on behalf of Prime Minister Balendra Shah. Gautam also presented proposals to forward several bills, including the Reconciliation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2083, to the relevant committees.
Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Social Minorities and Social Security Sita Badi, and Minister for Health and Food Safety Nisha Mehata, tabled bills concerning their respective portfolios, including women, children, social security, health and reproductive rights.
Waste Management Bill and commission report
Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal proposed sending the Waste Management Bill, 2083, to a committee.
Gautam also presented the Eighth Annual Report of the National Natural Resources and Fiscal Commission to the House.
